Coaching Specialties: Training beginner to experienced athletes, those with thyroid and other health issues, helping athletes recover from injuries, and offering nutritional guidance.
I live in Boulder, Colorado with my wife Adelaide and our dog Maybellene, and I spend my days training, coaching, and freelance writing. I spent seven years competing on the NRC road bike circuit (Pro Road Tour), including three summers spent racing in Belgium, before I decided to dabble in triathlon. I chose Ironman St.George 70.3 North American Championships and fit it in between a busy month of bike racing. I’d never done a triathlon of any length, but the 70.3 distance seemed like it would be fun. I ended up winning my age group and the overall amateur division, which qualified me for a professional license. Over the next six months I continued bike racing while competing in a few tris, but by the end of the year I decided to give up bike racing and focus solely on triathlon.
However, later that year in 2015 I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s—an autoimmune disease that results in hypothyroidism. I enjoy working with clients of all experience levels, I and believe that I have an extra quality as a coach in my ability to help athletes through illnesses, injuries, and other personal setbacks that go along with training and life in general.
